 December 2007, Marlies Dekkers officially opened her second store in the famous 'Nine Streets' area of the Dutch capital. On the walls of the mostly white interior a specially designed wallpaper by Marlies Dekkers refers to Sleeping Beauty. It was hand-painted on the walls by illustrator Kate van Harreveld. The lace curtains of Kobe reveal the unique print behind it. Just like all other marlies|dekkers stores, a lounge area with fire place is part of the interior. Each dressing room has a unique entrance, a reference to another favourite story: Alice in Wonderland. A special Sleeping Beauty soundscape was developed by Windworks; with music, sounds from nature and a soothing female voice recounting the fairytale. Passing the store innocent pedestrians notice a sweet trailing voice telling the story of the enchanted princess and dream away... |
